Although originally from Dallas, TX, Taylor considers Atlanta, GA his native home. Trips to Pawleys Island with childhood friends from Sandy Springs over summer breaks introduced him to this area nearly 35 years ago. The smell of pluff mud, briny air and blue crabs got him hooked and he immediately knew then coastal SC would eventually become his permanent home!
The “college tour” began in NC at Brevard College (he couldn’t resist the golf scholarship) and finished at the College of Charleston with a BA in History via a year and a half stint at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA.
His exciting “career tour” begins with co-owning/operating a restaurant in upstate SC. Several years later, Taylor returns to Atlanta gaining experience as a comprehensive financial planner for a top 10 firm. Then serendipity happens. In 2002, a move to the Hudson River Valley, NY spawned something no one could foresee, not even himself, a new career opportunity in the horse industry…as a farrier! Having zero experience and knowledge of horses, the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine Farrier Program set the stage for success of what would become the next 15 years of shoeing horses. Farrier focused travels and Taylor Keenan Farrier, Inc.’s clientele led Taylor from all over the northeast to Canada, Iceland, Germany, England, Wales, Holland and even to northern India as a volunteer mentor to teach native students farriery through a non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland.
In March of 2016, an occupational accident involving a young sport horse ended Taylor’s shoeing career. He relocated to KY and became the sales and marketing director for an international horseshoe company based in Louisville, specializing in the design, implementation and manufacturing of therapeutic and preventative aluminum shoes for lame and high level competition horses alike.
Full circle is complete in July, 2019 when Taylor decides to relocate permanently to Pawleys Island, become a REALTOR® and service those who wish to share in everything this community and region have to offer.
